Be You

My habit has been to find a writer I like and then read everything they have published.  In the early 70’s I was reading the hippie incarnation of Hemingway, Richard Brautigan.  I am not recommending you read him, just recalling that he was the voice of the zeitgeist of San Francisco.  He was similar to Earnest in style of both life and death. He was not particularly wise, but his honesty was compelling.  This brief and poignant poem camped in the back of my mind:

For fear you will be alone

You do so many things

That are not you at all
